COOL STORY, BRO
Updated: Nov 10

I've found myself in a weird space with my new publishing schedule, and not just the part where I release a new book every other year rather than annual releases like I've done in the past. I'm sure I've mentioned this here and there before, but the upcoming Tides of Odyssium series is turning out to be an odd challenge. The writing of it has been a blast, but as far as how I'm supposed to talk about it...that's where things get sticky.
Two weeks ago, I kicked off writing Tides #2. I'm about 30 pages in...and it's really good, I think. Tides #1, however, is at 95%, and it'll stay there for a while. When Tides #2 is done, it'll also linger at 95%. When Tides #3 completes, that's where I can look at it all as a whole and make adjustments to earlier books on things that have changed in the process of writing the sequels. It does follow my golden rule as it pertains to outlines: nothing is set in stone, because better ideas can and will come along. Even so, it's an odd way of doing it, so we might have to chalk this up to a lesson as to how NOT to write a tightly-knit story arc that spans multiple books when I inevitably do my next one.
So, with all that said, I'm left wondering what there is to say to hype up a project that won't start releasing for another two or three years. I like keeping my readers in the know as to what's going on, but you can only tease something that's been under a shroud of secrecy for so long. So, let's ask you all out there. What would you like to know about the Tides trilogy? How it relates to the other seven books in the series? About the genre shift from dark fantasy to sci-fi fantasy, and how it all fits together? About the vaguely sappy bit on my laptop on the picture above? Let me know!
As for what else is going on, I'm finalizing the revision of IN DARKNESS AND LIGHT: Odyssium Collection Volume 1. Its sequel is fully edited and is in its beta reading phase. I'm awaiting the final cover art, but it's otherwise locked to release early 2024. I'm really excited about it, I think it's a wonderful followup, and the TITLE REVEAL and DETAILS ON EACH STORY within should roll out within the next Od-Blog or two.
Till then, take care
